Norske Skog Follum

Follum pioneered the development of the role- and arena concept in cooperation with CPI and has become a standard for world class operation of paper mills.

About 50 roles are designed to run the entire plant and they manage the operations through about 40 arenas. There are shift handover arenas, department arenas, morning meeting arenas, and management arenas to name a few. Every arena has its own set of agendas, KPIs and process logs  to ensure a fact based way of working.

Follum was established in 1873 and merged with Norske Skog in 1989. After rebuilding the PM7 in 1995 this mill has strengthened its position as the main producer of improved newsprint and speciality grades in Norske Skog. It is a leading producer in its field in Europe.

Follum is located in the middle of the Norwegian woodland and has its wood supply normally within a radius of 200 km. The products are shipped via railway through Norske Skogs own terminal at Halden.
