Hywind officially inaugurated

First data visible in BazeField marks the inauguration of the two year Hywind floating turbine demonstration project in Statoil

Baze Technology was instrumental when the world's first floating wind turbine went into operation this week, officially opened by the Minister of Petroleum and Energy Terje Riis-Johansen and Statoil executive vice president Margareth Øvrum. As a boat trip turned impossible due to high wind, BazeField playes a central part in officially opening the turbine by showing live data streaming from the turbine. Have a look at the video link below.

Hywind is the first full scale floating wind turbine located some 10 km off the west coast of Norway and is equipped with a 2.3 MW turbine. The physical opening was marked with first data from BazeField on a big screen in the opening venue.

BazeField is the core system for capturing data from the turbine and all the research data sampled in connection with this reserach project. Hywind is added to the suite of turbines Statoil already operate from their operations centre at Vækerø.
