BazeField for 4 Aker SMART FPSOs

— filed under:

Baze Technology delivers integrated operations system to four Aker Smart FPSO vessels.

– Aker Borgestad Operations adopts IMATIS

(Oslo/Porsgrunn 29.5.2007). CARDIAC has signed an agreement with Aker Borgestad Operations regarding delivery of a complete process monitoring- and decision support system to be used onboard the four Aker Smart FPSO vessels that are being built these days.

On behalf of Aker Floating Production, Aker Borgestad Operations in Brevik, Norway has the operational responsibility for the 4 floating oil production ships, so-called FPSO, that is ships where the whole process plant is an integrated part of the ship. The first ship, Aker Smart 1, will be put in operation for the Indian oil company Reliance in March next year. After a comprehensive evaluation of different solutions from process monitoring- decision support- and messaging systems onboard the ships, CARDIAC was chosen for this delivery.

– We find a lot of advantages with the system. Increased collaboration will reduce the number of people both onshore and aboard the ships. Furthermore, the system provides a more complete and exact information picture, which allows for faster and better decisions. Hence, we expect reduced downtime on the facilities as well, states Gard Madsen, CEO in Aker Borgestad Operations. This major contract with Borgestad Operations is definitely a break-through for CARDIAC as a supplier in the field of Integrated Operations. The solution is a part of CARDIAC’s Digital Oil & Gas concept which is a complete e-operation for the customer’s enterprise. The system integrates all of the ship’s process systems and by the use of messages and alarms it will make the customer available to make smart decisions and take immediate action on any events.

Aker Borgestad Operations is thereby able to operate the ships safely and efficient with a minimum of personnel onboard. All operation- and production data is available as basis information for field owner, operator, supplier and consultants through a virtual operations centre. This allows for decision arenas where the right roles are being present when important decisions are made. Furthermore, all decisions and actions are being logged such that all involved personnel know which actions and decisions rests on each individual. The system also includes messages and alerts and in addition has an option for the use of Offshore Information Terminal, process modular packages and tracking/positioning.

– This is a break-through in the field of Integrated Operations, states Sales Director Sigurd Juvik in CARDIAC. – This solution is a fusion of our long going expertise within the field of process information technology and new technology we have developed through our large health contracts over the past years. It is really encouraging to see that the oil business now finds this just as interesting, as hospitals, states Juvik.
